It is shit

Fully deserving of rep, no torque, terrible damping, poor steering.

I had one for about 6 months.

Nice gearbox, good seats, nice noise when in vtec. The rest is pants.

Ride is harsh (totally unacceptable), visibility is crap, it feels like a big car.

Build quality is average. Look for rattly dash, some clutch issues and the doors rust at the top, under the seal. Paint is also poor and chips too easily/ road rash.

Consider a Focus ST (I've owned one of those too) and it is a better car. Expect early 20's MPG though.

Maybe even a Renaultsport Megane.

The FN2 does not deserve a Type R badge.

The one I test drove before buying my S2000 just didn't feel as awesome as I hoped it would, the EP3 CTR is a much better car if you are after the Type R badge.

Type R went from 'cars by engineers' to 'cars from accountants'. Very sad days, doubly so because of the differential in availability between the gooduns (imports or rarer UK cars - EK9, DC2's, DC5, NSX of course) and the ones you'll most commonly find on dealer forecourts (the FN2 for example)

That means that the uneducateds' first impression of Honda and the legendary Type R badge might end up being that slab of money saving immitation affrontery!

I too can confirm they are not that good having driven my mates and even he only had it for 5 mins

No word of a lie i gave one a real hard time in my mapped fabia VRS, it was quicker for sure but not astoundingly quicker.

The only civic type R for me is the EK9 as nick says, and that thing is a little rocket and handling which is out of this world.

I still have never seen one on a mixed (non marque or club specific) track day.

Speaks volumes about the car, or maybe just the target market.
