Default Civic VTi headlights

I am convinced they are putting out less light on dipped beam than they used to, and they've always been crap.

I can't explain why, exactly. New bulbs, clean inside & out, etc.

I'm beginning to wonder if the wiring's tiring, or something.

Anyone else experienced this before?

TIA

No, Karen suffers from night blindness; I don't. And in built-up areas, it's like not having the lights on in the wet.

Even with stronger bulbs, it's like the light isn't being focussed forwards.

The Prelude has separate reflectors & is much better & therefore useful.

I can't see that the Civic has got worse, buti t's becoming a PIA.

I've taken it up about as much as is sane.

The high beam is OK, but yes, it's like the dip dips too far & is about 2 candlepower.

I think it's partly ageing of the car, our eyes & the nasty Autoarse replacement windscreen, which seems to be permanently greasy/smeary, like a badly-sealed double glazed unit.

Can't comment on the quality personally, but lots of people on the CTRO site swear by the quality of a

Problem with teh HID upgrade is the same; it's only as good as the focus of the reflectors. Which are pretty crap.

They're in good condition, just a crap design.

Can't really explain a problem with the loom, but it's all I'm left with! Thought I'd ask, in case anyone else had a problem.

Mind you, HIDs draw less current once they're fired up, so it would help IF the loom's tired, or something.

Answer may be to try an aftermarket projector lamp set (very rice!) & an HID kit.

And a new windscreen.

Tried cleaning it?

More sensibly, checked the voltage to the lights?

Think that's my next job, well, current & resistance.

I'm driving an FK3 Civic at the moment, & the difference between the beams is even more staggering, although low beam is better since it has a seperate reflector.

I might try some new blubs - maybe the 'high performance' ones deteriorate quicker.
