The Dave Richards thing is extremely odd...

From what ive heard in the past McRae was reputed to be an excellent pilot too...

The Scottish news said today he was as renowned a pilot as he was a driver. That 2nd accident with DR will have a lot of the motorsport bigwigs thinking twice.

I do IT in the aerospace industry and the ex RAF guys at work say each time a helicopter takes off and lands, something breaks, such are the stresses involved.

http://www.helicopterlawyers.com/cau...accidents.html

Interesting link, sounds like a Helicopter is more 42 times more likely to go down then a plane....

The statistics presented showed that the helicopter accident rate was 7.5 per 100,000 hours of flying, whereas the airplane accident rate was approximately 0.175 per 100,000 flying hours

I'll remember him for the games that bore his name as much as his driving.

Sad times for the family.

Dreadful news. He was on the Chris Evans Drive time slot a little while back and sounded a really nice guy!! Serious loss

Very sad and untimely indeed . Such a shame, he gave alot to motorsport with his balls out driving style which made it so exciting to watch. RIP Colin McRae MBE

Was it a helicopter crash or a plane crash?

And the Dave Richards coincidence is uncanny.
