Opt-out & the boss stopped it; that's why we call it wage-slavery!
Company cars have always been deeply depressing. At least it's not merely a choice between the lousy Cortina and the diabolically awful Marina...

Nothing too unusual or awkard there!
Mileage is actually low for company use making PCH & PCP more cost effective.
I looked at this 6 months
based on 30k miles
I was going to buy a 1yr old low mileage Edition 30 DSG Golf ~

Thanks! lol
The way i look at it, its a better looking golf package that this time round seems to added a sporting edge to the chassis. Applies to both cars i guess.

A guy here has a golf Ed 30 as his company car!
it a nice car with DSG but it doesn't strike me as a car to get excited about. I guess ive been spoiled with the S.
Any thought on a Z4? tax may be better on one of those but then i feel like a traitor. The shame....

Problem is at the end of the day the car is for company use and as such creates an impression of the company.
Hence why most companies are controlling on what you use when you opt out.
My philosphy when opting out was pick somethingthat was good to drive and reliable, don't get hung up on the looks and the status symbol you will only pay more for them! Don't expect to keep it pristine like the S it is a work tool
I ended up opting out and buying a low mileage Legacy 3.0R spec B for not alot! Ticked all my boxes (other than fuel consumption )

[QUOTE=corgi_watkins,May 28 2009, 02:38 PM] I have a Golf Edition 30 and it is quite fun... even though I prefer RWD (i had both FWD and RWD in my formative motoring years) the Golf is a well made, fine handling, fairly economical hot hatch. It does pretty mcuh everything very well

Mikey - your right on the image front.
I guess ive been spoiled with the company car S2000! Still can't believe the boss let me have one. Even though my S is my work horse its not been the most prestine but its such an involving car and i dont think there is anything out there to go close to compromising.
Nick - My better half has a golf GT TDI company mule i get to drive and its good but its a wardrobe on wheels. Feels huge not very intimate.
I saw a MK1 in chipping norton at the weekend rollcage and stripped out. When i saw it i thought to myself... why ist there anything like this anymore. Then i heard the tappets as it went by. Maybe not i thought.
