The proposals are being seen as a crackdown on the owners of 4x4 off-road vehicles.
My Honda CRV "4x4" has less C02 emissions than a mini cooper*, so stick that in you tailpipe

What annoys me more than anything is that this is supposed to improve air quality.
Now, most of the low CO2 cars are diseasels which also ouput lots of other nasty stuff, causing asthma and general illness, nevermind the additional noise they make, and the nasty odour they produce - it was particularly bad this morning as it was a still day - making "the environment" of London much worse for the majority who walk around the place.
Still, anything these commies can do to tax the rich...

Is it me, or does the charge seem designed specifically to catch people out? There are plenty of people on the M4 corridor or suchlike that don't commute through london regularly, where they won't remember the charge or realize they're traveling into the zone.
And instead of being able to pay it within a reasonable timeframe, you're fined within one single day after your travel.
Maybe I'm being unfair, is it obvious when you hit a congestion zone, and is it fairly simple to stop n pay?

There are loads of places to pay it whilst you are there, or online/phone/text afterwards if you want to do it later. You can of course pay in advance.
