Default Congratulations to BMW

Success story

Not bad for an overweight car with questionable (if aerodynamically excellent) styling.

Exclusivity anyone?

You'd need glasses like those electronic welding masks; they go instantly totally opaque when an Einser comes into view.

Quite interesting as I've just seen JC slag it off on Top Gear.

But does your average BMW owner buy a car because it's good?

Popular on our fleet - the 116/118 with the graduate / admin type person and 120 Coupe for the senior staff that just want a BMW regardless.

Just booked the 320 ED and 5 Series for a week long demo in May.

With regards to do BMW owners buy a car because it's good? Some, not all. Most just want the badge and the perceived prestige that goes with 'I have a BMW'. We have one driver who insisted that I de-badged the 318 so that his neighbours would think that he still had a 320

The badge was actually a minus point for me when looking to replace the S but the car was spot on so I compromised.

Actually, I see it that way too.

What would be really cheeky would be to badge & grille-engineer one into a Rover 55. And drive round Munich in it.

Two reasons.

The perception of owning an 'aspirational' brand.

Or, in my case, the quality of engineering and the dynamics of the drive.

But the success story may well hinge upon the excellent emissions of the diesel.
And that makes it an obvious choice for a company car.

And JC.... do you actually have any respect for that buffoon?
I mean, hes a hoot, but the program is just light entertainment for pseudo petrol heads.
