Is an itch that one day I will need to scratch but I have quite a few reasons why I'm looking for the off road truck type vehicle at the moment.

I bought a Hilux Surf .. proper offroad capabilities, and good enough on road too.

Better than the Chealsea Tractors and the Soft Roaders.

A Toyota.
In Australian outback they don't drive anything else.
If the car breaks down... you are going to die.

I do go rough shooting and so weekend off road capability will be used frequently.
How do you currently get to the shoots?

Stop convincing yourself.

Used to have one of those myself. MAny of the 4x4 pickups in the UK market are only 2.5TD for tax/vat reasons. The older L200 Warrior was a bit gutless but the newer models have a much more modern engine.

I quite like the newer Hilux and I've heard good things about the Izuzu Trooper

its a bit controversial but how about a Porsche Cayenne ?
Alot of low miles will fall in your budget, not great looking but it is very capable.
