Considering a 4X4
Well it's money to burn then, 4x4s are depreciating faster than the books are able to keep up with.
Subaru forester is the one I would choose overall though, it can off-road if it must but is a great road car.

Why?
Serious question.
Serious question.
I'm very possibly going to lose my licence in a few weeks time and even if by chance I don't, my insurance premium will rocket and any further instances will result in me losing it.
I've always driven the S2000 like I've nicked it but its just so easy to get caught these days and I can't help myself
Also my daily drive is now a 30 mile round trip on a dual carriageway in traffic so I'm thinking big car comfort could be the answer. As I stated I'm only considering a 4x4 at the moment

I believe the average 4x4 to be the most unnecessary piece of metal on the road. It does not do anything particularly well.
It's comfy to drive, I can use it offroad (Sailsbury Plain with no issues), it's only slightly less economical than the S2000.
Due to the height, big diesel engine and being auto it's a relaxed drive. I'm not buzzing through gears, I'm not racing about anywhere.
It's got a massive load space so I can lug stuff about with ease.
It seats 5 in comfort, I've a fitted air bed for the back so I can kip in it.
And it upsets people like you
If you really need something to slow you down, disco 2.5 diesel is the way to go! mine is fairly comfy with heated leather. If you want cheap comfort and decide you can do without off roading, how about the mega comfort of an older Lexus LS400... I've just bought one for the winter,i've driven jaguar before,Lex is way better! .... still easy to speed though.
whats the honets need for one ?
there isa big difference between a disco and a range rover also 15 - 20k will get a very good one of either!!!
so you just want something large or you going to toe ? im a landrover person .... once you have its a bug that does not go away!! ive go a disco and love it

They are the size they are for a reason - superiority being one of the adjectives.
That is not a good enough reason for buying one.
