Default CPC Rules

Does anyone know anything about them and be able to answer some questions with regards to drivers regular and reduced breaks and whether holidays can be counted as part of the rest period?

Isn't Certificate of Professional Competence just a course of 35 hrs and nothing
to do with tacho hours?

Im exempt from cpc but im sure thats all it is.

Well it is, so I suppose the proper title should be advice on haulage and drivers hours

I know now that the holidays are included in the rest period but need to understand the 45hrs break. Wish we were exempt! It's worse than reading Working Rule Agreement and trying to decipher that.

I am supposed to understand this but since the army taught me to drive wagons they also taught me to ignore all that driver's hours "rubbish".

Why don't you ask your Transport Manager?
Who ever handles your tachos must know this.

If you run under anything other than a Resticted operators Licence (moving own stuff about) then you legally have to have a qualified person somewhere.
Normally the transport manager will be that person and they should be a CPC holder.
Hence me wondering why you dont ask the TM?

This was a good resource

Its the driver who needs to hold cpc.

(unless you only use hgv for testing etc like moi)

I would also expect the Transport Manager to hold a CPC too.
And be trained to a higher level.
This is normal, some companies sub contract that job out for simplicity.
I was a Manager for a transport company BTW - but a good few years ago

The CPC is only needed for newer licences, after sept 2009 IIRC.
It DOES include tacho legislation as part of the training, that much I do know Russ.

BOM I would pay a specialist for advice.
An remember the Working Time Directive might also affect you too...

I took it that everyone had to do 35 hours within 5 years from sept 2009?

If you took/take your hgv (lgv) after then and you have 7.5 tonne on
your licence then you must take cpc within Sept 2014 if you drive for
a living. Far too complicated btw. And for what its worth all HGV drivers
are moaning twats.
