DB9 Driving Experence
A useful thread for anyone that was considering doing it.
I would definitely say the only good thing about it is you get to drive a car you'd never thought you could, but if you want track fun then you'll be bitterly dissapointed.

My entire family are under strict instruction NEVER to buy me any of these things.
Total waste of money IMO.
Either take your own car on a trackday or get an hours tuition at a race school for roughly the same price.

Back in the day, when I were a lad and all that, well 5 years ago or so, actually more like 7 or 8........
I used to go to a day called "company car in action" it was a free day open to anyone involved in fleet cars / buying / management etc - but it was easy to blag your way in.
Held at Millbrook, all the major manufacturers were there and let you take their cars out on your own round the alpine circuit and the speed bowl(limited to100)
Now that was a driving day(and free) great memories of taking an ITR and an S2000 round the circuit (bought an ITR not long after I was so impressed!) but all sorts of other good cars to drive too
Also got a passenger lap in rally evos, an NSX and all sorts of stuff. Great, free day

[QUOTE=bigfecker,Aug 23 2007, 06:30 PM] Following on from the other thread I got back from my Aston experience earlier today, I'm some what disappointed by it all to be honest, don't get me wrong I enjoyed it but it just lacked any thrill.
I got there and filled in the indemnity form, ticked the no I don't want to pay an extra

Alex is right; the oversell does it.
I might set up a company "where even a poor working-class who knows his station, like you, gets the chance of a lifetime to actually (sic) sit in the driving seat of a very real Ferrari for only

Popped into an AM dealer last year to have a looksie. We had already decided on a 997S and told the salesman we weren't interested, thank you. In the end he had talked us into a test drive in an AMV8. I have to say it is a gorgeous car, but totally lacked an excitement while behind the wheel. We decided later, thanks but no thanks.
Anyway, same dealer invited me on an AM day at Bedford, now that was great fun, you could go up and down the straight 3 times each in a DB9 and AMV8. 167mph - DB9, 161mph - AMV8. Also did the brake test in the '9 and '8 from 110mph to 0mph. All quite impressive (pity the poor chappie who bys the AM demo's!!) Plus some laps of the Alpine circuit (were the DBS shots were filmed for Casino Royale) The the icing on the cake was to be driven by a AM driver around the 'bowl' at 150mph and then headed of to the straight for some more top speed stuff, think we hit 170+mph.
So to answer your question, go to a dealer and get an invite, far better 'experience'.
To sum up my day. Still came away not wanting an AMV8, the DB9 was lovely, but I'll stick with an XKR for half the money, but the Vanquish blew me away. Truly awesome!
