Hmm, i'll have to investigate this jubilie clip setup. I'm with you Mark (and i'm pretty sure Will is too) - threaded fitting on oil lines. Remember that on boost hoses and water lines, you aren't approaching 4-5 bar of pressure.

The oil cooler I gave Will was threaded and I know the sandwich plate will be too.

It will be sorted for the next track day at Cadwell end of October.

Maybe not, but you must factor in the diameters of tube in use.

A boost hose of 4" with 1BAR will take a bit of securing even compared to a 1/4" hose at 4BAR.

Also evident with diameters, small bores will generally take far higher burst pressures than bigger IDs of similar construction.

Sorry guys i don't think i explained very well. Basically the oil cooler and sandwich plate have alll got threaded fittings and i have used threaded fitting for these. I think i made it sound like i had forced the hose on and just jubilee clipped the ends!!! The jubilee clips are a safe gaurd to help hold the hose onto the threaded fittings that in turn screw onto the oil cooler and sandwich plate.

Have you put plain hose onto a NPT / BSP type threaded fitting??? Not good if so!

From your description earlier, a failed jubilee clip resulted in the hose coming off, that means it's the primary means of securing it agains oil spewing out. You want threded fittings on your entire system. Get some HEL hoses on there ASAP.

No mate i haven't. All kit was supplied by JJC Race and Rally. They have sold hundreds of these kits and they are not cheap kits. The sandwich plate and fixings are made by mocal and the hose is 1/2 inch Aeroquip hose. Ideally as you have said i would be best off using proper made up swaged connected lines but at the time this seemed like a good option as i knew allot of people using the same kits. Lesson learnt really but as said i still wouldn't blame the kit itself. My fault for using crap jubilee clips over proper branded Jubilees.

Ok. I'd still change it for a design that doesn't need jubilees at all though. Sounds like you have spent a lot on the car so for a few £££ it's a good move.

Agreed mate. Especially on something that could cause such epic failures and engine seizures!! Will be good for peace of mind too. If this had happened at Nurburg i would of been in a whole world of crap!! All the charges/fines i would of had to pay would of been shocking! Plus if anyone else had crashed as a result i would of had them to deal with aswell !!!

Hi Guys,

Been a mental few months after buying the new house but i have managed to save up some funds to refresh the dc2 over winter .

Only a few bits to order now. Cant wait to get all the chassis stripped. Arms will be battleship grey and chassis itself will be all black. Bolts are all being zinc plated too.

I have all of the following >>

Tow strap (so my lip doesn't get damaged like last time grrr)

Stack Oil pressure gauge with all needed sensors and adaptors

Stack Oil Temp gauge with all needed sensors and adaptors

clock pod which will be flocked to match interior

Hardrace camber arms front

Hardrace camber arms rear

Hardrace Full master bushings kit

brand new lower ball joints

Brand new Inner and outer tie rods

AEM fuel rail in black

NGK platinum plugs

2x r888 195/50/16 mediums

5kg race cell

All ready to fit after i paint the garage floor . Walls all painted now though >>

Cheeky NA on the run decal

The DC2 should be completley mint and ready for 2012 track time . Really want to get a Contour HD on the go but we will have to see how money is after i get my track day season ticket. CANT WAIT!

Few things left on the list>>
Should be replacing all my front brake lines with braided items
refresh my dizzy cap and arm
fit an oil catch can
new O/S front caliper
Clean IC Valve
Clean PCV Valve
Refresh all fluids
Finally fit brake ducts from spoon carbon lip
Then maybe if funds allow replace my ITR clocks with S2K dials .

Last year when i had a jdm dc2 i had your car as a wallpaper on my phone how are you finding the s2000 compared to the dc2? when i changed i preferred the dc2 as the engine and suspension felt more responsive and exciting but the s has the looks plus its turbo'd now so it has the power.

It was the one where you were looking down on it (possibly out of a window?) with the bonnet open.
