Shipley this made me and is exactly the bit that puts me off the 996 turbo bodied cars. They aren't good looking just functional
No I meant the 911 in general...she's never been a fan and wanted me to get a Maserati Grand Sport. The trouble with that was that there is no one nearby to look after the thing.

The only 911 she though looked purposeful was the 4S and I wasn't going to argue while I was ahead !!

This is my next target type .... http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1150460.htm

I really want this but it won't do for Europe ......

and the only fly in the ointment is that these are now becoming attainable.....

Lee's was reliable for the first year or so, now it is costing ££££
Those 997's are nice. GT3 again

Now this ticks a lot of boxes

That's a lot of car for the money and RUF are respected so future resale shouldn't suffer that much.

Upkeep won't be cheap mind.

Hi Andrew.....great sounding car you have and a nice problem looming on the horizon!

If/when I buy a red car I am enourmously reassured to have these folks on my doorstep:

http://www.rosneathengineering.co.uk/

I know you are a little further west than me, but they are probably only ~35 minute drive from you and have an excellent reputation (and sensible pricing). They look after the newer Ferrari & Maserati cars as well as the oder stuff.

Sell the S2000 and but the 997 GT3 with the extra cash. With that on the drive I doubt you would be bothered about losing a super charged S2000

mate at work has a 997 C2S Cab. Great car and fantastic performance when you think theres more 'sporty' models in the range. Definately look at a 997.

However, If I had 40k I'd be getting an absolute stonker of an NSX, are NA2 Type R's available for this price point?

Thanks Ian - I hadn't heard of them.

I was looking the other way and had settled on Egham who where there seem to be 2 Ferrari dealers who can deal with the Massers.

I know this is a Honda Fan Boy website, but the NSX can not be compared to a 997 porker (with the exception of the NSX-R perhaps).

Business is good so I've decided to start looking for another addition to the garage (rather than piling more in to the S )
I like the idea of a fast reliable GT that doesn't have massive depreciation.
It is going to be a GT car, maybe the odd track day but unlikely.
Never had a porker and I like the look and sound of the "tuned" 911's
Reckoning on ~40K to buy something half decent
I would like to hear about running & service costs on those I've listed if any one can help.
I'm luck to have 3 good indie Porsche garages locally.
BTW the S is staying!
Mike have you posted this thread on the Porsche forum in pistonheads? You will get lots of good advice there
