Im not keen on them either but the way they are improving and
increasing their market share it seems very blinkered (cant find the
right word) to keep on knocking dervs.

Im using one every day at the moment and the one thing it does
is make my Lotus feel very quick on a sunday.

I'll stop knocking them, when the characteristics/faults I've listed no longer apply

So I don't get the blinkered bit either

By and large, they are awful, and inferior to petrol in just about every respect apart from economy (even that is questionable in many cases in the current climate)

I love fast cars, and cars that are fun to drive

If you think there is no diesel in my fleet because of prejudice, you very much misunderstand me

I'd have one in a heartbeat - when it's the best version of a model I like or need

i expect my grand kids will find my aged s2000 a bit 'lame' with it's petrol engine and just xxxbhp

there's something a little special about seeing blue flames eminate from the exhaust of something VERY fast.

Diesel hatred is a bandwagon some sheep jump onto.

And I don't understand why one would want to laugh at somebody else's misfortune either?

Put the shoe on the other foot - would you like to be laughed at?

Hmmm try telling Audi that their Le Mans winning cars have inferior performance to the rest of the field

I know there is a whole issue on engine size etc, but a properly developed racing diesel shows that they can do much more with a diesel when they want to

I seem to recall they were doing quite well with their petrol cars, without the benefit of an uneven playing field...

...also look at the mighty manufacturers they beat.

People who buy diesels/hybrids etc. because they're jumping on some psuedo-environmental bandwagon make me laugh.

However people who buy diesels cos it suits the car they have and is slightly more economical (if you can call about 20mph economical lol) than the big petrol engine equivilent should be exempt (i.e. us )

Cant understand why you'd hate them, thats a pretty strong word. Dislike yes, but hate?? Come on, were you abused by a diesel engine when you were young?

Now i'm not saying i'd drive a diesel if it was my only car unless the mileage justified it. Cant understand people who do 8-10k a year spending a
