Default Door dent

Girlfriend opened her car door, wind caught it, it hit a wall

It's now got a half inch dent half way up the door starting at the very edge of the door (paint damage is minimal)

I know the dent removal guys usually need to get inside the panel to push the dent out

They won't be able to in this case

Anyone had a dent like this repaired or know of any technique for removing it ?

Apart from filling and painting (I don't like body shops)

She isn't happy

If it's right on the edge then I doubt there is much than can be done by Mr Dent man. He might be able to pull it out slightly but to get it perfect I suspect filling and spraying is your only option.

Sometimes they can weld/attach bits of what I can only describe as metal string to the dent and then they can pull it out.

They did this when I dented my sill on the S2000 and it worked quite well.

She has been spanked, but she liked it

I'll think of some other punishment

At least I know there's a method, I have heard of some PDR techs using glue

I'll make a few phone calls this week

Sometimes the dent guys can get inside a door from the jamb. They drill a hole, work their magic to pop it out, and can then fit a colour keyed plug to cover their tracks. As long as it's in a part of the door jamb that doesn't catch the eye, you should be fine.

PDR can use glue, if it is done properly it works well, if the dent is smooth then that should be fine, if its creased then it might take too long to be viable.

The dent guys only need a small hole to get inside, like someone said, they can drill one and put a bung in BUT i know people that have had this done and although the repair was great, because the drilling was untreated, it started to rust. So if you do have it done, id personally just put some touch-up round the drilled edge to cover the exposed metal before the bung goes in, Prevention is better than cure and all that.

Thanks, but this is right on the edge of the door

Harry Houdini wouldn't be able to get inside it

Hence the need for a different technique
