I understand that it's not easy for Police, especially with Notting Hill requiring extra coverage.
I did call 999 and reported it immediately. I told them where he was and where he was driving towards but I did not follow him as I was on the phone.
I said to the operator that he appeared to be drunk but I did not get close enough to him to smell any alcohol. He was drving very bizarrely though.
I could prove it was him as his paint is now on the side of my car.
As for the threat, well it's my word against his so nothing will come of that. I'm just hoping something can be done about him driving off.
I've also got the impression that he'd be the sort of person to try and give me grief/intimidation now I've reported him. But we'll see I guess.

Hopefully it will get followed up.

If they give you grief - though that is actually very rare - then report each time ... witness intidation or harassment with threat of violence gets them arrested .... each time. If they are known - which for Police / Insurance to proceed they would have to be then it would cause them alot of grief.

If they were drunk and got away with it then just an insurance claim will be quite a good outcome for them when they think about it - harassing you for reporting them will just get them in deeper.

That car will now be known to the 'system' in London as you have given the index after ringing 999 for possibly being drunk in charge .... so if checked 'randomly' will invariably result in a stop just to see if they are drunk ...

I had a tenant in my flat who turned it into a brothel.
Got them out after going to court and when they moved out took a new washing machine, fridge freezer and all the curtains and curtain rails.

Police would no nothing, said it would use too many of their resources to track the woman down

So I tracked her down.

She is now up and running again a mile away.
Told the police and they are still not arsed to do anything. What are they there for?
Not related to this thread but I assume that they owe you/the court some money?

If so then bailiffs will have been knocking.

Can't you inform the bailiffs of her whereabouts?

Secondly, can you not pursue a civil claim against loss of property through the small claims?

Or, just cause her some hassle - find her current landlord, inform the council/utility companies (unlikely to have paid bills at your address) or do other stuff.

People like this are a bloody menace

Frankly, I'm astonished he is insured, although we'll see about the details in due course

Just don't get involved in any discussions with this idiot - just leave it all to the insurance companies

Good luck

Sorry to hear this Pip.

You must be gutted.... another pint and he'd probably have written that heap of Volve junk off!

Seriously... suspect you did the right thing. A street brawl would have done you no favours with potential high risks and I don't see you as the type who'd be administering one decapicating blow.

Fingers crossed the guy is at home feelign lucky he got away with a drink driving conviction and plays ball on the insurance front.

Sorry to hear this pip.

Just be glad they didn't write the car off and then get away without anyone seeing as happened to me a few years ago.

Never a truer word said in jest

Thanks, I'm just hoping for minimum hassle. My excess is high (450) so I will not be using my insurance to pay for it if his doesn't.

Ahhh man whats a sorry tale.

Sorry to hear this.

I agree with Gad, if you were an ethnic you could use the race card and the police would be down on him like a ton of bricks.

As regard to fighting you did the right thing, these lunatics these days carry all sorts of weapons.
