DVLA Rules
I have just been given a car, it has 2 days of MoT remaining and around 3 months tax left.
The rear inner arches are shot to pieces, I want to keep the car so am taking it to a local mechanic tomorrow to get a quote. It failed a week ago due to the rust here.
I only have 24hours insurance on the vehicle until 530pm tomorrow (23rd June)
I plan on declaring the car as SORN when I get it home tomorrow as I figured my insuarance will run out and I dont want a fine from the DVLA.
Does this sound OK, is there anything I need to know / do.
Also when it comes to having the work carried out can I drive it SORN with no MoT to a a test centre (insured obviously)?
Have some pics

Get it done before the SORN (sworn off road notification), you must be insured, and you can only drive it to and from the repairer and for its MOT, make sure you have a written appointments for both in case you are stopped as it will avoid all sorts of hassle.
Excellent, thanks guys.
I have the car at home and will be getting a quote for the repairs tomorrow, going to insure it tonight for the year so the DVLA dont have a go at me.
