E46 M3 Coupe Test drive

Glad you liked it, and that you aren't comparing it to cars in a completely different category
It's simply the best smallish coupe out there and the only thing you'll have to listen to now will be the anti-BMW whingers.
There's a lot of 'I'd never drive an M3' comments out there.
Mostly made by people who have made the informed choice to drive a five year old Mondeo or two year old 9-3. Go figure....
Debadging is sad, faux badging even more so, and it will attract attention you don't want.
Economy won't be far off that delivered by an S2000. Low twenties should be the overall average.

They're absolutly fantastic cars, wouldn't mind owning one in the future and the csl's something all together, extra special.
I see your idea bout the badging, but to be honest, if you get the csl you'd be foolish to alter it in a cosmetic manner.

I hadn't thought about the wrong sort of attention with the faux badging. I like idea but I'll probably stick with the M3 badge then.
Comparing it to the S is natural for me because that's what I've come from. I'm not judging it based on the S, but it is a basis for comparison, a car that everyone on this site should know how it drives
It was a fast, good handling small saloon, that was comfier than I expected it to be.

I do, but thinking about it, the M3 felt much more like the S than the RS4 I drove. Which is its direct competitor in theory.
The S and M3 are designed for people that like to drive. The RS4 is for people that like to get to their destination quickly. I'm trying to think of other examples, but the ones I can think of I haven't actually driven so I can't really comment. But I'd guess the SLK is in the RS4 camp.
