That's a remote 'stat. IMO of limited use (it won't cure the "soft head" or "location dowel" problems) and my theory is that a "gentle warm-up is a better and cheaper idea.

If you want to fit a remote 'stat to a K series then Landrover do a better one which is not only remote but pressure sensitive too (and will open up to allow flow when the water pump rev's are up even if temp' is not high).

If unlucky enough to get HGF then fit a LR 'stat, modded HG, steel dowels, replacement hardness tested head, and higher torque clamping bolt thread rails in the bottom end. You probably need all of this to be 90% sure of no further problems (why bother with any of it until you have to - you may never have a problem?)

BTW liner heights can be a problem on K series too - no 'stat is going to fix that
