Phone just dinged with this news. Chris Evans is a good bloke, and clearly a car nut. But taking on the Top Gear brand is huge. Will need to see who the others are, and how much the format has changed.

I've listened to Chris saying he absolutely won't do Top Gear for the last 4 weeks. No integrity these days. All about £££. Hope he crashes and burns, as he surely will.

Hammond and May won't be joining him! A complete new line up then, with a new producer. It's a big gamble for the BBC as it is the biggest cash cow.

I suspect that's in an effort to throw attention away from him, as much as anything.

I think Evan's is a good choice, but they can still ruin it by putting Jodie Kidd alongside him.
