Evo has gone...

Are you getting out there regularly?

I am in and out every couple of weeks or so at the moment - just 3 day trips to the Ourhoud base.
Trouble is, I only get a few days notice and visa's are a right royal pain in the arse, even with nice letters from Sonatrach.
Anyway, back to cars....it is quite clear you need to own a red car for a while. I personally would go 355, but I am on old git and prefer old(er) cars. If the 360 works for you, do it.
Probably quite pricey to tinker with though!
Visas are a PITA, and getting much worse from the email I got the other day. Luckily I have residency, but even that took 4 months to get.
I'm back out in just under 3 weeks.
I do like the 355, and I should probably try one but I wasn't that keen on the interior. The 360 is still nocking on, but looks a lot more modern. A 355 would be a great depreciation proof car I reckon, but maybe offset by the cost of keeping it on the road

You'd be surprised, I was! It's really nowt like an awd rally rep. The Evo is very highly strung and wants you to punish it all the time and very revvy. The GTR is savage but lazy with it. It's also quite tail happy and RWD most of the time... I also reckon the Evo was more of a weapon on a back road. But anywhere else and the GTR is just plain nuts.
One good thing about the GTR is the residuals, i'm still quite surprised by that. Maintenance costs are silly though.
On the downside, i'm not sure it would be an event driving it compared to something Italian...

I need to at least test drive one!, problem is I'm likely to be declined - as its obvious I wont be buying one.
Funny thing is the local Nissan place is where i was going to test drive an early 350Z before the S, the guy 'ummed' and 'ahhhed' about letting me testdrive it due to insurance etc (i was 22 at the time). I told him I'll just go and look at an s2000 then, a week later after a bought an S, he seen me drive by the garage i gave him a wave and a cheesy smile, so this time it could be different

Mate of mine might be parting with his 355 soon. Red / cream coupe with manual box.
I decided I was the wrong person to own one - so there you go Mark!
He's an engineer by training so it is immaculately kept.

AJ, if you can get a go in one, you would love it.
Rog, have you driven it? Thoughts? The manual / auto dilemma isn't one i'd have with a 355, it would have to be manual!

He wouldn't let me drive it
But yes I agree with the 'no dilemma' on the 355.
Mark - he is one too - reckons the paddles (first introduced on the 355) are a weakness. Also the bodywork joins where that lovely line swoops down the rear wing; and the sills. But this is manageable for the right person. You will know all about the cam belt change every three years (engine out)
Personally the choice was 355 or 348. Spider. 360 onwards gets a bit anodyne to me.
Gaddafi knows all about them

I post this in fear a very good friend who has a 360 will read it... but go for a 355!
The ride of the 360 is dire and it's just too big. It looks dated in a C6 Corvette kinda way, whereas the 355 is still one of the best looking cars ever.
The difference in performance between the two is meaningless - and with the difference in price, you could add a Tubi for a sublime soundtrack and run the 355 for as long as you're likely to own it.
