F1: Belgian GP
It could happen. I wouldn't say no to the possibility of Alonso at Ferrari. I think Massa's contract is up this year, and I don't think LDM rates him that highly.
I also think this will be the closest Hamilton will get to the title for some time. This year he struck gold in the fastest car with a team who thought he was Jesus Christ reborn.
Next year the team part will still be there, but will the car? It's a trend which has afflicted most British drivers.

That would be a strange comment to make as he is still leading Alonso by 2 points in the championship in the same car.
So by your own logic Alonso has also struck gold by being in the fastest car, unfortunately he isn't doing quite as well as Hamilton at the moment. So does Alonso have an inferior car or is Hamilton a better driver ?

So are you claiming that his position has nothing to do with his skill and ability ?

But look at Button - one of the most precise and talented drivers in the field going nowhere because he doesn't have the car. DC is a proven race winner and look at him. both were hailed sensations in their hay day when they were driving competitive cars, but neither have so far managed to recapture that success.
My point is (and I thought it was fairly obvious!) that I don't think Macca will have a good car next year, and as a result Hamilton's chances of the championship will be slim for some time to come. He's burst onto the scene in a good car and has done very well. But with their cheif designer gone walkies, the budget short of up to

To be honest Alonso has gone down a lot in my estimation, trying to hold Ron at gun point over the dodgy emails, offering cash to mechanics to beat Hamilton etc etc. Now I'm sure this kind of thing is common place in F1, but the idea of Alonso being the best driver just doesn't seem to ring as true for me after all this.
, and Michael Schumacher now seems like he was quite honest by comparison.
In a bored moment, I worked out how the championship would finish if the remaining 3 races go the same way as Belgium. And it goes: 1. Raikonnen (114), 2. Alonso(113), 3. Hamilton(112), 4. Massa(101).
Close enough?

Wow! If Raikkonen pulls it off I will be mightily impressed. He looked pretty peerless on Sunday, and that made it his 4th victory of the year - the same as Alonso, with Hamilton and Massa both on 3.
In all honesty I admire Alonso now for hi single-mindedness. He's nothing if not consistent in that respect. Just look at Prost, Senna, and even Schumacher. Not particularly popular at times, but no could argue that they weren't true champions.

Instead, he should be showing the world that if you really are the best driver, you don't need your team to slow down your team mate for you..... but I'm sure he would prefer Yamamoto as his team mate.

Hmmm Heidefeld in a McLaren.
I'd love to see that.
