Default F1:: TESTING - Silverstone

Hi,
OK I have just bought my tickets for the Wednesday day of the three day testing at Silverstone this year. I thought I would give you the heads up should you fancy going along and seeing/hearing these beasts up close; details below.

3 days of testing
Tues 24th Wed 25th and Thurs 26th June
Tickets must be pre-bought (you can't pay on the gate)

Simply turn up, you can pretty much go where you like in the stands areas etc, just find a good place to watch the action and wait for the cars to pile out ... they usually do a open pit lane too, this usually costs another tenner and you can go inside the pit lane at lunch time and have a real close up look at the cars in the garages, its a good day and well worth the money .

OH and don't forget take a pair of EAR PLUGS seriously, the cars are so loud it hurts your ears, they do sell them at the track at some crazy fee if you forget

Was planning to go to this, but considering the shite 3.5hr journey each way, and the cost of gas, I don't think I'm gonna bother now.

Yes I noticed that - PITA. I'm just going to buy a 3 day ticket.

There's usually a lot of running at this test, though I did once go to a test in October where there was one Jordan going round in the wet, which then crashed .

Last time I went Dave i had a 330i, stuck it on cruise and wafted down there. 3.5 hrs of motorway is a breeze to a beemer.

Dembo, I laughed when I read that comment about the October session and the jordan Hopefully there will be more cars there this time!

Well I bought mine for the middle day of the session, but am having second thoughts that perhaps I should have bought the last day, but I don't suppose it matters very much, just depends how lucky we are on which teams need to test there (and it's usually all of the big teams over the three days) on any given day.

Honestly if anyone has never seen these cars 'in the flesh' so to speak it's a fantastic opportunity if you can get the day off work.

I think last year it was all the teams, but Ferrari do have a tendancy to go off and do their own thing, so it's possible you won't see them. And they tend to have different drivers on different days, so you can't be sure who you're going to see.

It really is worth seeing and hearing them for real.
