Fast Diesel
An S will easily do over 30 mpg on the motorway, probably nearer 35mpg, even at 80mph or so. No need to change IMO, especially when you add in the cost of buying a new car as well the depreciation on a newer car vs your S, and the cost of borrowing (presumably) the money to buy said new car...

I have looked at a SEAT Ibiza Cupra R tdi 160m, think this maybe ideal for me.
Around 50mpg, 160bhp as standard 7.7 0-60. And can be chipped to 190BHP with no clutch slip.
Never owned a Seat but i guess there okay due to being part of the VAG group?

Try a 530d - great on the motorway, and 230bhp, 300 lbft torque and it does approx 40mpg.
You can pick up a 60k miler for 15K.

Seriously though - they are quite quick but if you use the performance they are not very economical. Around town they drink diesel as well. On a gentle motorway run you will get 30-35mpg but thats about it - and believe me, we have tried driving them in all manner of ways.
The newer shape 530d is much better than the older model which is considerably slower and less economical.
Nice car though if you need the size of a 5 series.
Just my views FWIW as a daily 530d driver
IMO your number of miles you expect to commute doesn't justify a "fast" diesel.
In your situation a few years ago I bought a beater... a DC2 Integra Type-R cheap (you'll get the best for around
