Feck's S2000 replacement
I've kind of neglected here for the past few months....sorry. Hope everyone is well
I sold my S 4 months ago and like any breakup I put my head in the sand and pretended nothing had happened lol
Anyways, here's a few pics of my ex mistress at last year's Megameet

It's now owned by Dredd123 on here who I'm sure is looking after her for me

When the S went up for sale I bought myself a little beater to run about in and this little GTI came up dirt cheap. For abandoning in the city centre on a night out the GTI is perfect. I never took the S anywhere for fear of it getting dented, scraped or breathed on wrongly....an attitude that isn't healthy lol
When the S sold, the wee GTI just wasn't enough, so I went on the look out for a quick car on a budget. I found this on a local forum and when I went to look at it discovered it was mint and I kinda fell for it.
It's a 2002 with just over 75,000 miles on it. Nogaro Blue with blue alcantara/black leather seats. It's the 225bhp BAM engine and at first glances I thought it was standard, although very strong! For a ten year old car it's been very well cared for with very little to do. Yes it's German, and Yes it's not as an exciting a drive as an S2000 but I'm finding it a surprisingly capable thing and it loves to be pushed.
When I picked it up, I planned a few decent engine mods and started by replaced any missing bits of engine trim and stuck in a drilled airbox.

I had then planned to send the ecu over to MRC for a map but after running some logs on VAGCOM I've discovered that at some point in it's life the car has been mapped. RESULT! The previous owner had only had it a couple of months and didn't know it had been worked on.
The logs also showed however that it was losing boost over 5,000 rpm. I had a feeling that the standard TIP pipe was compressing under load so ordered a Badger 5 80mm one and fitted it. It's alot bigger than the usual replacement TIPs. I'm not a big fan of blue pipes, so keeping it still looking OEM, I got a black one. It's now a completely different car. I can't believe the difference it's made.
My OEM on the left vs the replacement on the right.

I've also fitted a Forge recirculation valve and an N75 race valve.
Next on my to-do list was a downpipe and decat. I had a proper look under the car today and discovered that both cats look to have been opened so it seems that someone has already gutted them. Another nice surprise.
I think that's me pretty much done with the engine. I might try to get a better cold air feed to the airbox, but that's about it. Just need to get it on the rolling road. I'm hoping for something around 270/275bhp, which isn't bad for a little 1.8
I would like to do a bit more with the handling and a few changes on the interior.
Finally I put my three digit plate on it over the weekend which has really cleaned it up.

Anyways, if you've got this far on a Honda S2000 owner's site, I gotta shake you by the hand!! If anyone's still interested, I'll keep updating this; if not, I'm happy for this thread to die lolol
I WILL get another S2000 as I do miss driving them. You just can't beat the ceremony that you get from them!

Nice, always liked the S3's.
Had loads of these in my mates shops, these 1.8's are in loads of car. Good job with the forge valve as its recommend to replace the stock ones i think the stock clutch will go in the future, they do take the power its just when they get old. In fact IIRC the stock audi DV is used in my SC setup.
An example last year i remember was just over 220BHP standard and was 260BHP after the remap

Steve, nice pics & write up! My brother had one running the other side of 300bhp. I seem to remember he had a milltech exhaust in amongst a few other mods :-) One of the quickest cars i've ever been in!!

Thanks everyone. It's certainly a nice place to sit in, even for it's age. I don't know why but 8L S3s seem to be pretty rare over here, never mind one in this colour. I do love the colour
I'd love to run it over 300bhp, but I'm undecided as to whether or not it's worth it. At the moment I think I'll sort out the handling and wait for the clutch to give up the ghost lol
I've a friend who enjoys tuning VAG motors and we logged a few runs on VAGCOM and noticed the boost drop. We'd already tested for boost leaks and I'd read about the TIP pipes on these cars becoming weaker with age. It certainly felt soft so I guessed that it must be compressing. These Badger5 pipes have proven results so I thought I'd fire it on. I've still to log some new runs, but the laptop battery has died recently so need to get a new one.
m1bjr; I can't take credit for the nicer pics. My friend took them and I wish I had his talent when it comes to photography. If you are interested, here's a link to his blog. Adam's blog I can ask him though about his settings, if you'd like them.
