Fell off the back of a lorry ....
As a matter of interest, anyone know what the law is in these circumstances. Can you keep what falls of the lorry ?
In my teens I found a police breathaliser in the road - think someone subsequently nicked it off me.

Oh now that could have been seriously nasty, so glad the Mrs and Mr Q are ok.
My dad , when i was a very small boy, came home with a nice crate one day, and for several weeks we had yummy Jersey Royals with every meal.
How often do you notice bricks and such like wedged between the double rear wheels of trucks, all accidents looking for place to happen, but obviously these kegs wee not properly secured, phone them MQ and have moan, alternatively as said by martinj, good scrap money, often see them in scrap yards.
Another anecdote, about 6 months ago I landed up tooting and waving at the driver of an artic, the door of the container on the trailer was open and swinging around threatening all sorts of mayhem.

I hope you have told bulmers.. they will be able to trace lorry etc and give the driver a ticking off (to say the least)!
Glad everyone is ok !
Worst I think I have had was a near miss with a ladder.. van coming the other way with a two piece ladder on the roof as I neared the front of the top section of the aluminium ladder took off.. and it swung in front of my car (I know it seems odd) and THEN must have somersaulted my car as I saw the ladder swing directly behind my car as well before bouncing into the verge
I was in a hire car at the time which was significantly shorter than my usual motor (at the time).. with the distances involved the ladder would definately have hit my normal motor. The van in question did notice and slam his anchors on so it was perhaps lucky there was nothing behind him !
Too many idiots on the roads in one way or another, or another, or another....

I was on the M3 a few years back and hit one of those long hoses that are normally attached to the side of petrol tankers. It was about 20' long and managed to take out another 7 or 8 cars. Those hoses are pretty solid as they have a metal coil around them and heavy brass ends. My BM520 sustained about £2,000 of damage, mostly replacing undertrays and replacing the passenger's airbags, which fired because the lhs of the car was thrown up into the air. On the plus side, at least I could drive home, unlike the Elise owner who had 3 punctures and was looking at 3 new alloys as well. Surrey police never traced the tanker.
Many moons a go I had a couple of similar incidents
Large piece of plywood came up from under a lorry in front of me on the M25 in the rain. It "rolled" up the bonnet, over the windscreen and clattered across the roof.
I pulled over to find dents in the bonnet and a crack in the windscreen. It wasn't unitil I got back in I noticed a small hole in the roof where the aerial had punctured it
Tough explaining that to the fleet manager
Next car - different company.
Chunk of kerbing block fell off the delivery lorry in front of me and bounced down the road on the M4 in Wales. I took avoiding action and got a cloud of white powder come over the car. Nothing else was apparent.
I got to were I was going and continued my day. When I came back to the car I noticed this chunk of kerbing nestled in the passenger headlight :eeek3: The white powder was the glass disintegrating! That was close!
I've had numerous "near misses" with delaminated lorry tyres and back exhaust boxes coming off vechiles.
Scary stuff at the time.
I'd take the kegs up with Bulmers as others have said.

It didn’t occur to me to contact Bulmers. I took the pics because I thought it would make for an interesting thread to which many would be able to contribute.
I was just thankful that it was our lucky day. I very seldom travel with Mr Q, I must admit it makes me hyperventilate because he drives so slowly but I‘m sure that is what saved us. I usually fly along that stretch of road.
You lot have made me think though. We all make mistakes but it looks like the lorry driver has not followed the protocol for loading and securing his load. He has got away with it and is oblivious to what happened. Because we were unscathed I didn’t feel like kicking up a fuss and making trouble for him, but you’re right, I would be feeling very differently if our vehicle had been damaged or, worse still, we had been injured. My friend says it sounds like being confronted by the bouncing bomb. She’s right.
I have contacted Bulmers and they tried to palm me off to a transport company and gave me an email address with a full inbox to send the pics to, meaning that my first message failed.
I maintain that as the barrels bear their name, address and barcode, they are the ones who are, in the first instance, answerable to me for what happened.
That is utterly disgraceful MQ of Bulmers.. Phone back and demand to talk to someone in management ! Honestly I do not understand the reaction of the people in the company, in my opinion it is hardly an insignificant event. What if a child had been on the verge and in the way of the barrels as they fell. My opinion of Bulmers will plummet if they don't react in a suitable manner about this
