Default Ferrari Question

I know Ferrari and Lamborghini have enolved their engines over many years, Lamborghini have had the same one (albeit continually refined) since the Miura I believe. But I heard a clip today, and would swear that for the most part, you were listening to an Enzo's V12.

I thought the Enzo's engine was a new unit, but by the sounds of things it's been evolved directly from their older F1 cars!

Have a listen and see what you think. I reckon from New York till Sao Paulo you're listening to an Enzo.

No ..

We use RON,
The US use PON,
Japan uses MON (I believe).

http://www.btinternet.com/~madmole/R...RONMONPON.html

So it's all hard to compare like for like.

EDIT ..

Japan uses OCT
Japanese fuel has a high Octane but has a lower CV than the UK SUL.

The 100oct fuel in Japan is 99.4 to 100.3 MON to be called 100oct it has a CV 4.9% lower than our fuel, to better suit local conditions

The Enzo's (like the F50) was, I understand, developed form the racing car engine.

Like the great Colombo V12s before it.

BMW's F1 turbo fours were built from second hand engine blocks; they'd lost their brittleness over a few 100,000Km and could take the 1300bhp stress (qualifying tune) better than new castings!

They also used to wee on them before building the engines.

Bayern engineering for you.

What was the reason, to passivate the surface, or something?

I think it was partly for good luck

and to nitride the surface.

It was on a Clarkson vid apparently, which means I'd have been full of vodka. No wonder the story is hazy.
