As long as they dont store it and it helps the catch some of those scum bags I don't mind.. kind of see it like giving a breath sample by the road side. I don't drink and drive and don't have a problem doing this as it helps catch those who do.. again nothing stored...

I voted "No" on the basis that it's a complete and utter waste of money.
My first thought was, if you've done nothing wrong then so what? But then I spotted the word "voluntary". I mean really. If it's voluntary then the crims are just gonna say "no".
So you end up with a databaase of people with no criminal record and / or people too intimidated to say "no" to the police even when they're within their rights.

It's a mad gone world

I really do not understand why people think that this is a waste of money - it's really bizarre.

When the Police stop some muppet chav in their non-insured stolen pile of crap, many of them lie about their identities wasting loads of Police time. This saves the Police having to take them to the station to process them.

Wedge.

Thin End.

Actually, to be honest, it's more like "quite thick bit in the middle, not near the totally wide end yet but pretty far from the thin end" now.

But it is not stored (so they say) it is just a check against what is stored.

I have no problem with it - as long as it is not abused.

with moff on the money/time saving too

Anyone that has anything to hide is going to refuse to have their prints taken.

I therefore don't see how it will save money or time. I'll also bet that the equipment to do the fingerprinting costs *lots*.

I'm sure there will be some way of further investigating those who refuse - hopefully
