No escape for drivers caught abroad
Motorists face being pursued for driving offences committed abroad under new laws, it emerged yesterday.
Even routine parking fines will be chased up under the provisions of the Road Safety Act, giving foreign authorities the right to obtain information from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency in Swansea.
The little-noticed change is due to take effect from March. It was described as a "wake up call" by a spokesman for the AA Motoring Trust.
I guess if it's reciprocal, then stops all the Poles ignoring Gatso's in this country.

(a) Part 3 or 4 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 (c. 52) (licensing of drivers of vehicles), or
(b) Part 2 of the Vehicle Excise and Registration Act 1994 (registration of vehicles),
available to the authorities of any country or territory outside the United Kingdom with responsibility under the law of that country or territory for the regulation of drivers or vehicles for use by them in the discharge of that responsibility.
Can't find when it comes into force.

) then there's probably nothing much to worry about from what the others have said here.Having said the above I have noticed that the driving over there is a lot slower than than it was 10 or so years ago - there's obviously been some sort of crackdown so its probably wise to keep an eye out for those funny vans with the blue lights even if the cameras may be ignored.

I went past a French speed camera at double the speed limit on the way back from Le Mans last year, it took a little effort to get to double the speed but we felt it was worth the effort.

Bear in mind that if the police do stop you going ridiculously over the limit* then you could end up in jail and have your car confiscated.
It's not the cameras you should be worried about IMO.
*can't remember the exact speed... have to look that one up. 50km/h over the limit is "big trouble" time anyway.
