Default 'Foreigners' in Mini Run

Cycling back from Blackpool to Preston this morning was swamped by a Mini run coming the opposite way. In among the standard Mini's, clubmans, travellers, 1275GT's etc were a number of 'new' BMW Mini's. I mean, what the chuff were they doing in a run to honour the BL mini? They looked so out of place.

And do the traditional Mini drivers accept them? I know that when I had a TR7 I was sneered at by the flat-capped TR4,5 and 6 drivers, and it was even worse when I waved from my MGF to MGB/Midget drivers.

Incidentally, a fab car rally was going on in Blackpool, with lots of buses, huge American cars, loads of vintage Triumph sports cars and old Ford saloons, including an immaculate Granada Ghia Coupe which I particularly coveted.
