Hamilton and Alonso are by by far the most obviously talented drivers; the question remains as to whether Vettel joins them.
If you assume at the moment Red Bull > McLaren > Ferrari, then the only driver who's been consistently out-performing the car is Alonso. Massa being 5th or 6th is right where he should be, and Webber's been under-performing allowing one or other McLaren to often finish 2nd when really they should be 3rd and 4th. But by that criteria it's hard to judge Vettel, as he can't outperform the fastest car. He can only be first.

Vettel managed to win a race for Toro Rosso in 2008, Hamilton's championship winning year. He also scored points in his very first race, and that as a substitute for Kubica in a BMW, not even a full time driver. Unlike Hamilton we've seen him in midfield teams. I think it's a bit silly to suggest he isn't enormously talented. Perhaps it's that British thing of not liking winners?
Nope, I've no dislike of winners and absolutely no lack of admiration for Vettel - I just can't yet see if he's got that little bit of Senna that is evident in Alonso and Hamilton.

They are all enormously talented; we are talking small degrees here, but as I said - in F1, that's enough.

I was rather hoping that Vettel would be able to continue today, as it would have been fun to watch him come through the field.

I think he probably would have disappeared as usual otherwise.

TBH, knowing SV as a person he's more like Mansell's character rather than Senna but has more personality.

Agreed - I was gutted when the engineer gave the international hand gesture for "not happening".

Coulthard and Brundle doing cracking commentary...just in time for it all to move over to Sky.

Gutted :-(

Still - Brazil next! Always a fun one. For some reason it's the one I'd most like to attend...though Sao Paolo puts me off a bit.

I can't.

There might be strange beasts in there...

Also, you have to wonder what genetic / evolutionary reason he has ended up with such large ones.

It has good spacing above the nose area, so it's not so much mono.... just a big pair of caterpillars!
