The Formula 1 Thread - 2011
Sadly I don't think we'll see Kubica coming back. Eric Boullier seemed quite cold on the idea, and I think what Brundle said yesterday was right: that if he was going to come back next year he'd at least have been around and taking part in tests by now.

They seem to think November - January.
Slightly more up to date:

I know very little about the guy, but would seem he had potential. Shame if he couldn't get back in.
But i'd like to see Senna in F1!

I think Kubica will be back, he was an amazing talent and a real up and coming star. He might not come back with Renault or Lotus or whatever the f@#k they are from next season but I think for sure he will be back with someone, even as a test driver for his first year. It would be a real shame if he didn't.

Agreed, their insights and pedigree are fascinating. I like that Ted bloke in the pit too. Not sexually though.
No proof of Hamilton's raw talent required - proof of his mental strength certainly was and that was obvious from his team's comments as he crossed the line. Emphasis on "control" was glaring.
Hamilton and Alonso are by by far the most obviously talented drivers; the question remains as to whether Vettel joins them.
That'll only become clear when RBR's engineering edge is closed and he has to either scrap as Hamilton has had to or relax and find consistency has Button has done, in similar circumstances. I think that, as Nut has pointed out that Hamilton has done, Vettel will look ragged in those circumstances, but only because he's competing with whoever's up front rather than conserving a good finish. Vettel is Hamilton as Webber is Button.
Have skipped a few posts here, so apologies if someone's made this point already, but I believe that Button is one of the few, if not the only, driver to hit his first win at around 100 races. He's a triumph of perseverance on his own part and those of his various teams, and the the margin by which his talents are less obvious than Hamilton's are tiny.
But in F1, that's enough.

Vettel managed to win a race for Toro Rosso in 2008, Hamilton's championship winning year. He also scored points in his very first race, and that as a substitute for Kubica in a BMW, not even a full time driver. Unlike Hamilton we've seen him in midfield teams. I think it's a bit silly to suggest he isn't enormously talented. Perhaps it's that British thing of not liking winners?
