As for Bahrain, I completely agree, we should skip it if not for security reasons then for the humanitarian ones. It is crazy that the parade is going there, and its a boring track to boot.
No good.

I have some sympathy with the Force India team, but whilst the attacks aren't directed at them i think they need to get their heads down and get on with it.
If it changes and the protests and violence starts being directed at the F1 brigade then its time for them to pull out. In the mean time F1 should be getting on with it and not get dragged into the politics of it.

Of course in reality it was petrol bombs thrown near Force India team members.

An international sport watched by Billions and you think that an oppressed nation isn't going to do something?
Yes, the pertol bomb was thrown 'NEAR' the Force India members. That's because these people aren't savages, they are simply venting their frustrations. If they wanted to hit the FI members, I have no doubt they could have!
This race should not be taking place, but Bernie is a greedy b'stard. He drives around with bodyguards in an armored car whilst he risks everyone else's safety.
We're about to stage the Olympics and there is a significant risk of terrorism which will no doubt be directed at tourists and the Olympics themselves. Because of the fragmented nature of the events and the number of people involved it will be much harder to police than a single event like a Grand Prix. Do you suggest that we cancel them?
As i said, the protests and violence is not directed at the sport. I fully expect that there will be no significant interruption to the grand prix or anything worse that has already happened to any of the team personnel. I'm sure there will be some attempted demonstrations, but at a single event it should be more than possible for the police to control them.
If you remember back to Brazil, a group of people attempted to do something to Jenson Button when he was travelling either to or from the circuit. Yet you don't hear calls for the Brazilian Grand Prix to be cancelled because of the risk to the team personnel which i suspect is much more significant than that in Bahrain.

I think what makes this different is this is very much a government event. Lots of government money went into it, and it was very much about promoting Barhain, so for F1 to be there looks like F1 supports the government. That's totally different to a private event happening to be held somewhere dangerous, like Brazil.
If the protesters are smart, they'll know that their best chance of success is to get international opinion on their side, and they won't do that by terrorist attacks on international sporting events. The nightmare scenario is a peaceful protest outside the track being ruthlessly suppressed by the government, and that would prompt a lot more questions as to why F1 is there.
