Could be trouble indeed, I would asume that both Ericsson's and Nasr's sponsor will pull out if their driver is kicked out.

If they're arguing on safety grounds then they must be in the wrong contractually.

I'm sure they could make the car fit the driver if they needed to. Other teams manage to put reserve drivers in the car for testing, the race (Magnussen) or because they are pay drivers at short notice.

I admit to being somewhat baffled by this. Why would he want to drive for a team that does not want him? They would not be 100% behind him and would surely find a way to arrange an early retirement from the race.
Sauber do not want him, no other team wants him, he should accept that gracefully.......and feck off.

It's obviously not in the team's interest to arrange an early retirement from the race. And who's to say Van de Garde wasn't the driver the team wanted all along? It's just the financial realities meant they had to go for the drivers bringing the most cash.

WTF!

Has it seriously got to the point where the courts can decide who represents a team in a sporting event this has implications not just for F1.
You would expect that the team wont make it very easy for him when he arrives on track on the Friday. Good luck to him.

Surely Van der Garde can point to some legal documents saying he was promised a seat in 2015.

There are many things they can arrange to make it look as if he is not good enough.
If they had wanted him that badly they would have found a way to keep him.
If he was any good he would have found a drive without resorting to the courts.

That's exactly what he did and seeing he got what he wanted they must've agreed with him.

The team have seen $$$ signs and ran after the money. The best to the worst driver is about 0.5 seconds. Best to the worst car is probably 5 seconds. Car>Driver and Sauber want the money.
