The Formula 1 Thread - 2015
It wasn't last years race by any means. But it wasn't boring. I didn't want the Mercs to dominate this whole season. We got to see that last year. I wanted this year to be more competitive. I came on at the beginning of the Vettel 4 year domination and this is my 6th full season of watching. I always enjoy when someone can take it to the people who are supposed to win.
It's interesting that (according to Mark Hughes) Mercedes felt it necessary to compromise brake cooling, at a circuit known to have one of the highest brake demands on the calendar, by fitting smaller ducts and trading additional cooling for reduced drag.
Clearly, given the relatively hot conditions, they felt that Ferrari were a real threat in Bahrain, and had the race been a lap longer Raikkonen may well have won.
McLaren, having been bouyed by getting both cars to the finish in China didn't manage to get both cars to the start in Bahrain. They must be grateful to have a three week break before Spain.
I feel sorry for Nico Hulkenberg at the moment. He's one of the most complete drivers in the field, and was within an ace of a Ferrari contract 18 months ago, and here he is in an under-funded and under-developed Force India scrapping in the hope of finishing in the points. I would love to see him in a car worthy of his considerable talent, but unfortunately it may never happen.

Force India ran their 2014 cars for the first two tests, but turned up with their 2015 car for the final test and amazed everyone by being reliable. But clearly they're behind and if I remember correctly are having a big update soon.
Maldonado says his big balls are to blame for his incidents, lol

Thought this was a wind up at first but seems quite serious.
