A lot of my friends do trackdays .. we all have banter before, but afterwards you've either been proven, or been shown up.
no competition then?

nice friendly atmosphere by the sound of it too?

the words 'shown up' don't exist in describing my relationships with my friends

none of them own shitheaps either

each to their own

There has always been banter from the bigger HP car owners towards the lighter cars.

One friend is happy that he kept up with a GT3 engined 4S in his MR2 around Nur. The 996 owner had been giving him stick for his car over the weekend. He's now upgraded to a Turbo after that weekend.

My CRX owning mate went past my MR2 (270bhp) and then my mates RX7 (450bhp), and then another mates Supra (380bhp) in one lap. He was over the moon, I'd been "shown up" by a FWD hatch with over 100bhp less.

Like now my mate with a Soarer is digging about my hairdressers car. It's all c0ck waving until we get to the track.

sounds like just the sort of day I would detest

which is why there is no attraction for me

but that doesn't mean I don't respect the fact that you enjoy it as much as you evidently do

I like opera and boxing (not at the same time)

plenty of people hate them

My mates and I make a summer Holiday of it .. a week in Germany, and a few daytimes at the ring.

Rest of the time is spent driving about in the loverly countryside, visiting a few towns, drinking German beer and eating German food.

Looks to be about 15~20 of us this year.

I personally like trackdays, as you can never drive near your/the cars limits on the road. For my daily commute I could have any car. I've an S2000, I may as well use it in anger now and again - if I didn't I may as well have bought a 206CC or a Mini Cab.

I can see your point but for what you pay for 20 mins on a track day under no pressure or any particular reason to go faster you can be on a track actually racing. There isn't a substitute or a leveller like it.

I can only imagine. Only issue for me would be the time, the cost and knowing myself. I'd get hooked and then need my own car/trailer/tow car

Maybe something like "Time Attack"?

Problem is it all seems a bit .. erm .. don't know the word, just not my thing.

Seems to be the next "up and coming" motorsport, as lots of guys doing the UKD1 are also doing TimeAttack now.
