you can lease a brand new 911 for that sort of yearly cost..
Yes you certainly can and trust me I had that thought a LOT.
However I did do 20,000 miles in that year. Mostly personal mileage as well
The mileage does ramp up the costs significantly. Ironically the newer ones (997) have longer service intervals as well so should be cheaper to run.
As already mentioned it is a high performance car and it does have high running costs associated with it. Do not kid yourself that you can run something like this on the cheap. Unless you barely use it. Buy whats the point in owning a car like this and not driving it

I bet it's still a bargain compared to my next choice

My estimates show that the 911 cost around 15k over 12 months to run. This does include the warrantied repairs though but also tyres, brakes, servicing and depreciation. That figure is also perhaps optimistic.
That's scary

I would say the NSX will / would have cost me around

Hi Simon

Just out of curiosity what sort of warranty/cost do you have on your NSX.

Love the NSX but just can't face the idea of getting a massive bill!

Cheers

[QUOTE=Starlight,Aug 2 2007, 02:45 PM] I think the main factor here is - Depreciation, if you take that out of the equation, then the running costs should be a much smaller figure.

Thats like saying a

[QUOTE=Fieldl,Aug 1 2007, 04:06 PM] I spent a fair while researching and finding my car too. I wanted a black C4S, I bought one with low miles. Deluding myself that it would be better. That was a REALLY expensive mistake. It is difficult to run a 911 for reasonable money. Unless you buy one that is right down it's depreciation curve. Cars that are sub 30k are not going to lose much more, however early ropey 996's are now going for 20k, these are asking for trouble though. I have seen one car written off essentially as it needed a new engine. 2nd hand engine will cost at least 6-7k from a breakers. So an new engine will cost around 9k all in if the work is done by an indie.

3.4 engined cars also suffer from a few known terminal issues. As a bonus all cars can be placed under Porsche warranty on passing a 111 point check as long as the car has not passed it's 9th birthday and has less than ~100k miles. This costs

It's like any car, some you get and they are in and out of the dealers with problems and some are trouble free.
