There are some aftermarket units that are supposed to link to the phone screen, like you say.

Of course, IF the phones (or actually their reception) were actually any good...

IIRC Ford are now opening up iDevice app development to the wider public - the best way to do this IMO is to provide the car as a blank canvas. Problem i have with most moderns is the damned radios are customised into the fascia so aftermarket needs to wait until someone makes a nasty dashboard adapter.

What you really want is decent speakers, an amp and a bluetooth functionality / USB dock so that you can connect a mini tablet or some such other device and make the cars roof into a 3G/4G aerial.

Given the power in something like the Nexus 4 - that's where all the clever electrickery needs to stay then it's always up to date.

Like everything aftermarket is suddenly twatpodphone compatible, just as Android-based systems start to race ahead.
I 'almost' popped for the new Mazda6 on the company scheme, DAB isnt even an option on that.
Its amazing as a fleet machine, but the £2k premium for a diseasal is abit rich these days.
So clean, cheap, frugal. Almost perfect really. Except the integrated (really?) Nav is crap and no DAB.
Twats.

It's something that Honda is also remarkably crap at.

No wonder the Japanese cannot make real headway in the fleet market - the Mazda 6 otherwise looks a really decent car, by modern standards.

It seems incredible to me that something which commands a premium of a few pounds for an OEM (i imagine) is not there when we're talking about switching off analogue.

Crazy days

I pondered a 3 MPS.. Sleepy turbo and not as chav as focci IMO

I think it's cynically hoping for "the ashtrays are full" syndrome; Mr Muppet will chop it in 'coz the radio don't work no more.
