Default Guy-ard-oh

Please, can someone tell Americans that the word is not phonetic? There's some song by Akon called Smack That, where in each chorus he tells us how he's rolling in his Lamborghini Gal-lard-oh.

It's funny how these clowns can afford to buy one, but they can't even pronounce what they've bloody well bought!

Americans on XBox Live are just as bad, because they just call anyone who tries to correct them gay or a communist.

Because Americans have a special talent for butchering other people's languages?

Yeah, but Graham, it is our language. That menas the language can evolve as we, not the septics, see fit.

We're italian?

(strictly speaking Gallaardoh is the Italian way to pronounce it. Double consonants are "hard". Some marketing ponce somewhere decided to stick a French inflection on it).

I'm sure I read somewhere when it first came out that it was named after a type of Spanish fighting bull (presumably to link with the bull on Lambo's badge).

If that's correct, the pronunciation should be Spanish not Italian - in which case, I think guy-ard-oh is correct, with a-ll pronounced in Spanish as if it was similar to a -y.

Ah that would make sense. Never thought of the Spanish link until you mentioned the bull. Diablo kind of cements that.

Well I never.

Edit - Although a quick Google reveals that Ferrucio Lamborghini was a Taurus, hence the bull. So I wonder where the Spanish comes in . Miura and Espada are Spanish too, rather than Italian...
