As part of my recent 'oh bugger, I've sold the S, what the hell do I buy next' adventure, I looked at both 993's (which I didn't drive - I just do not like the interior) and 996's ( a couple of 2WD versions I did drive). Ultimately my conclusion was, quite nice but nothing to get excited about, not for me.

But a Porsche 'never'???? I never say never - in the unlikely event that I become obscenly rich, a Carrera GT would be on my shopping list.

From a purely egotistical point of view I'd like to say that I've owned a Porsche at some point in my life...

I was coming round to porsche and their drivers until last night when a driver of a C4S convertible tried to force myself and my girlfriend off the road. If my GF hadn't been with me I'd have probably stopped him and inserted his perma-tanned fat face up his exhaust pipe

I don't like the look or image of 911s (or Boxster or Gayman) but I did used to have a soft spot for the 968 CS (has anyone sat in one of those things? The seats are ridiculously tight, proper buckets!).

The Elise I tried yesterday was good but overpriced (IMO) and doesn't really fit into our current fleet - it's too similar in driving style and practicality to our Smart Roadster, which means we'd have to go on holiday in our P reg Mazda 323 I may have a complete change of all the cars in a few years and get one then, (which will also coincide with a few more affordable Toyota engined cars around).

If I sell my S2000 it looks like it will be for another one, as I can't think of anything that I'd rather have that I can afford to buy and run

I prefer the old uglies

something like a 3.0 SC (?) targa has some appeal

but I don't like the image and the results of that image - lots of jealously and vandalism

even if said image is as unsubtantiated as with any other make

Only a proper open top for me, hence no Elises etc, may as well be driving a Corsa VXR with a sunroof, 911 soft tops are sooo ugly and that leaves the Aston and I'll never be able to afford one of them unless I sell the house and live in the car .........

A new lightweight all aluminium S2K would suit with around 275 hp and more torque.

I have to confess i've been eyeing a 911 for my next car too, the only real porsche for me! but they can look either great or crap.

The latest ones are actually quite nice looking (for a porker), but beyond my budget.

I personally wouldn't consider anything earlier than the 02 models. The boxster lights are just plain ugly imo and for porsche to raid the parts bin and fit them on a car costing twice as much is just wrong.
