Can you imagine the insurance for a 22 year old?

I had a look at the aygo go go thingy this morning. It seems a good deal at 0% finance. Interesting though this offer runs out at the end of the month when a revised version of the car comes on the market. Also, no satnav versions left which is a shame. Trailerparktrev, how do you cope with the glow-in-the-dark controls?

Thanks for the offer Winfreak but I am after something newer and possibly more reliable - no insult there I hope. If all else fails I will get back to you.

thanks for the ideas guys, keep 'em coming.

I was only half kidding, since 22 year olds do (remarkably) seem to get insured and I'm guessing that insurance on a 22 year old is exorbitant whatever they drive.

I like the Aygo idea - but if you're going second hand, I'd go Micra or Sirion.

I would do if I could find something. Everything that is for sale seems to have 50K for a 3-4 year old. I can understand a bigger cars having this sort of mileage but who is buying small cars then doing 15k a year?

The idea behind the Yo-Yo-E-I-Adio is that in 3 years it will be worth 4k (if lucky) with 30k on the clock. This is the car I am looking for at the moment, so at least I will have a car with reasonable/low mileage and a history I know about and may then keep it for another 3 yesr or use the money offered to buy another one.

There was a woman in the showroom in front of us. She was parting back her Adio-a-go-go (3 years old) and the guy was offering her 5K+. The world of cars has gone mad!

Phil, Sat Nav is standard on the Aygo Go. Maybe the dealer was trying to flog you the Ice version (standard air con and metallic paint?)
What do you mean glow in the dark controls? The slightly cheapo looking lighting for the heater controls?

Seriously though it's a great little car and we've saved a fortune in fuel costs. I would recommend the five door too.

Your problem is that everyone is looking for the same thing.
Low mileage, low road tax, cheap insurance and small engine - the recession and increasing fuel prices mean everyone is looking to cut their motoring costs. Add to that the ever-increasing premiums for young drivers and you're setting your sights at the most popular segment of cars.

On the upside, it's meant that my wife got a 4 year old 2.4 Accord Auto for peanuts from a Honda dealer last week though, big engined cars are cheap as chips.

Since you're looking to buy relatively quickly, might it be a good idea to get chatting to a few dealers of similar stuff close to you and get them to call you when they get something suitable in, that way you're able to beat the crowds to the popular cars.
