if you mean a DFV then yes , or any of the Ferrari V8 engines. Burbly Yank V8 may be fairly smooth and torque y but as far as i am aware they do not like to rev so their ability to produce loads of Hp's NA is limited.
Yank engines are pushrod and 2 valves in addition to being cross plane.
Crikey, listen to the sound, does a Ferrari V8 on cam sound anything like a Yank tank V8 , a flat plane crank provides an engine that basically consists of of 2 four pots workig in harmony on a single crank shaft and therefore has the ability to rev . and thereby produce big bhp figures like the 2.4 V8 currently being used in formuala 1, yes the cross plane crank V8 can be powerful with loads of torque but the sound is different.
So again very different engines for different applications, both very admirable in their own way.
