Default Honda s800

as the s2000 is now gone, i have a bit of cash to spend (after the baby arrives) and intrested in posibly getting a s800 just for trackdays... I saw one at Castle Combe

However, i cannot find any info on them. I have looked on the owners club webssite and it seems deserted.

I did find out that you can still get all the parts !!!.

However, i want to know about tuning (engine + chassies) So i can make it look (and go)like the race one (GT4).

Anyone got any info on these... and are there engine conversions (mbike?) etc etc.
WHere can i get disk brake converstions and uprated suspension etc.

Cheers

I have a couple of contacts who are in that club if you want them joper, PM me and I'll pass your details on. I think they do most of it 'offline' than online.

a slightly strange choice imo

(for racing, not owning)

what motivates it?

I think they are interesting cars, but disproportionately expensive to their abilities

parts also likely to be a nightmare

is it just the rarity?

I'd have thought something like a Midget might be a better (practical) proposition

ps the S800 is pretty heavy too - about 70kg more than a Midget iirc

I think for the rarity value it would be very cool

As for parts, well it's a honda

And forget tuning - it's S2000 all over again.

They are very pretty and can be quite sophisticated, but parts are horrendous.

The crank is roller-bearinged and the four carbs take some setting up. So repairs can be hideous.

Tinworm was another problem, of course.

Other than that, the car is as reliable as a Honda. Everything's a bit over-engineered.
