In order to get more people to cycle make a law that means cyclists are never to blame.
And if you want a new bike, just ram it into the nearest car.

Does the car have to have a driver in it to be at fault, or can the mere existance of a car mean liability.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

They'll be telling us cyclists can go the wrong way up one way streets next.

Oh, they already are

cycling is the best way to commute sub 10 miles
i used to love it. currently drive 75

that's a rubbish 'story' though

Government advisers are pushing for changes in the civil law that will make the most powerful vehicle involved in a collision automatically liable for insurance and compensation purposes.
that's completely illogical and i wuold hope illegal

most people dont cycle because

- they need to dress formally for work
- they are lazy
- there's little financial incentive to do so
- they work >10 miles away from home

and you wont change most of that easily.

work from home is the green option

Does it mean then that the cyclist will need insurance too though? in case they run into me when I'm on foot.

Excellent news. I'm off out to deliberately crash my Primera into something powerful. A Boxster would be good, or maybe an M3?

I had a few drinks earlier, but as long as I hit something more powerful it's all their fault.

i hate all governments

democracy protects us from maniacs running the country but by the same method prevents us doing anything particularly good too. i am not looking forward to everyone's favourite public school boy running the country

when i used to cycle to work i was in a group of probably 15 from about 500 and i'd say 75% were local. and lazy. address that

There are certainly financial incentives to cycle to work, look at the cycle to work scheme for instance. A new bike can cost you aprox 60% of list price via salary sacrifice and lease back from employer.

Yeah. I mean what would happen if one of those maniacs sold all our gold when it was cheap and then came out with a no more boom/bust philospohy.

We'd be in the sh1t if one of those type of maniacs got in....

Lets face it, no politician ever got into politics for responsibility.

And of course, you only have to watch the House of Commons in action to see that they all act like 14yr old kids who have had one too many beers.

And as for the 'It works in Holland', i'm willing to bet they won't be legalising cannabis anytime soon...
