How much as the S2k lost compared to others!
I can fully vouch for the options trap. I have an may 05 boxster 987s and I specced it with 10ks worth of extras. all I can say is ouch and could of bought a 1-2 year old s2k with the depreciation.
On a plus side I love all the options
The beauty of the s2k is that the options list is small so most are all batting from the same wicket come resale time, I have to compete with lowly specced cars so on the face of it people will see a car with say 2ks worth of extras looking identical and at what should be quite a bit less money than mine.
In % terms i will be looking at the car retaining aprox 60% of its value after 2 years as appossed to around 70% had I gone easy on the extras. I would say for my car 4k is the max you should go on options.

I see where most are comming from ! But 2k a year seems to me rather high!
I see what you say about Boxters etc, with options !They never are a real value, options are they a drink ?
But as everything nowadays its only 2k! I spent many years buying cars for that sort of money!Having a lot of fun and still get back same or a little less!
The euro imports, seem to me as the right way to go !!

I see Evo dug the knife in again on the S2000 this month saying that it's prices were in free fall like the Clio - what a load of bollocks!

[QUOTE=Lurking Lawyer,Jan 11 2007, 09:49 AM] I didn't read it that way at all (I only got around to reading it last night) - I thought the point that they were making is that, in a feature on old sporty cars that can be had for
Perhaps bottom is an unfair paraphrasing on my part. Fairer to say that they appeared to think that the Clio and S2000 still had more left to lose than the others.
Can't remember them all, TBH. The S2000 was mentioned in a side-bar of around 15 "also rans" rather than the body of the main article, alongside things like the Clio 182 and the TVR Griffith.
The ones they picked for the main article were the Clio V6 Mk1 (which won), the E34 M5, the RB5 version of the Impreza Mk1 (which came a close second to the Clio), the Esprit, the RX7 and one other which eludes me at the moment.
