JTuner RIP
This was one of my sister titles. Sadly, it and Retro Cars have indeed closed. I know Future did not want to sell titles that may have competed for advertising with the mags that it was retaining. In that respect, I think Retro and Jtuner closed because they would compete with Classics/Classic Ford and Redline/Fast Car respectively...
Another sad, sad day for British magazine publishing.

Then they need to target better. I would NEVER buy Redline.
No idea, that company. No idea AT ALL how to run a small, niche title car magazine. It inherited some that were working brilliantly (Classic Ford and Fast Ford) and has managed to keep them going, although ad revenues on FF have gone down the pan. It's shagged over Retro, which was working before but now is dead and buried. It's shagged over Jtuner, its own bloody magazine, launched barely two years ago. And it tried to close TBMW, but luckily that title was sold to live another day... and it WILL live another day, the new publishing house knows it can make TBMW work. That's because the new publishing company puts in a bit of effort...

The problem with Future's automotive department is that everything revolves around Redline, which is a shit magazine with shit sales, number 3 in a (dwindling overall) market of 3. No one wants tit and arse car mags any more. Redline is shedding sales figures faster than Labour is voters. But still, it has a MASSIVE editorial team and they are allowed to do what the fvck they want while everyone else gets treated like crap. Good, eh?
Jtuner competing for advertising with Redline and Fast Car. I ask you!
Future. A bag of w@nk.
Not bitter at all then Matt

FWIW I agree with you, one of my mates used to work on their computer magazine side and was complaining of the same thing years back, that the management lumped titles together seemingly at random for administrative purposes and to 'create internal competition' without ever really understanding what each title was about or their target audience.
I also agree about Retro, used to be worth a look but PPC does things so much better.

Ahem!

Yes, slightly bitter, I admit... ha ha! But I earned bitterness, I deserve my say! Yes!

Just wanted to vent a bit of frustration. Both Jtuner and Retro could still be going now... but Future closed them!
