Don't get tkm. You will get fed up of push starting it. Go for rotax. I built this from frame up. Sold it now though. Whilton mill is good.

that's a cracking looking kart!

I think I'm sticking to TKM to keep costs down, I understand ROTAX starts to ramp up the prices a bit and as it's just for a bit fun for the time being, we are trying to keep it as cheap as possible, whilst still being able to run in a race series if we want, albeit maybe at the back of the grid

Tkm is still fast. Just a pain in the butt. A lot cheaper though like you say. Here's mine pre rotax make over

Any update phil on what engine you've gone with and if it's been fitted and running yet?

aha! Good timing, I picked up a TKM about 2 months back but have been out of the country for 5 weeks, so now I am back am desperate to run it, so we've got a practice day lined up for Friday at Clay Pigeon, just hoping for a dry run.

I've a few little bits to sort on the day in terms of set-up, but on the whole it's ready to run. I need to get my hands on a TKM airbox if i want to race, but for practice I am just borrowing one.

I'll post some pics and maybe a vid if I can sort something out next week.

Karting doesn't really tickle my ivories but spotted a billboard yesterday advertising a new karting centre in Basingstoke, if anyone is local.

Well I sold the kart after 2 practice days, just wasn't for me. The time and effort required didn't equate to fun factor on track. I was surprised I didn't enjoy it more as love track days, not sure what it was but just didn't float my boat.

All that said, I've ogt involved in helping a friend set up a new non msa race series at Clay and Llandow circuit. We had our first race at Llandow a few weeks back with a grid of around 25, so that was positive, but hooping for much better things at Clay as it draws a bigger crowd.

If anyone is interested in VERY cheap racing without the MSA restrictions, take a look at what we are doing here;

Drop me a note if you want any more information, otherwise all info is on the site.

We've some good contacts for kart hire, so that might work out better for me to cut down the hassle factor!
