This is the Land Wind X7, made by the Chinese joint venture of Changan Auto and Jiangling Motors Corporation.

It has a 2.0 litre turbocharged four cylinder, with six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic.

The Chinese market Evoque is £40,000, whereas the X7 is £14,000!!!!!

I would say perfect for a Black Friday sales event; copy and translate the Chinese advert' to a 48 sheet poster and stick it everywhere, and sell the car in the Asda oo Tesco non-food section.

 

People were talking about that on the Evoque forum. Gotta love the Chinese

 

Its NCAP crash ratings were not such a good copy of the JLR offering ..... edit: At least that was the previous model they released.

 

I would suspect NCAP ratings are not high on the list of priorities for the target audience. LED daytime running lights and rear privacy glass are all that's required to sign-up for the credit deal.

They had some comparison photos in the paper last week. The Chinese version looks a lot easier to see out of, so might actually be safer!

 

Another amusingly blatant lip-off. They've done the CR-V, Smart, 500, etc. as they still as yet have no local design talent. There was a Swiss car for Sheiks with more money than taste called the Wind Hound or something equally as flatulent.

It's worth mentioning however that the Datsun N-do got a zero-star rating in Indian crash tests and Nissan got a bollocking off the UN over that. So it's not just Chinese junk...

 

Actually, the Changan Smart lip-off was actually front-engined and a four-seater like the Toyota i-thing.
