New roads
So there's £15b coming along for new roads, announced in a cringe-worthy media event by posh-boy Clegg at Stonehenge.
I won't hold my breath for any significant new roads or meaningful improvements to materialise, let alone appear up North... But WTF proposing a scheme which puts the major road adjacent to Stonehenge underground, in order to enhance the view?
I have no issue with roads to ease congestion and improve infra structure per se, but the huge additional cost to improve the aesthetic around (under) a pile of 5,000 year old blocks of stone suggests priorities are seriously out of whack.

Biggest chunk of the money being spent in the NE, according to this: http://www.bbc.co.uk...siness-30269231Details of NE schemes here: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/m...-and-yorkshire
I have to agree.
Also, enhance the view for whom? The few thousand visitors, or the millions of car journeys through the scenery?
Perhaps they're hoping all those nasty PM2.5 emissions from DI engines will kill the naughty motorists!

I still think that money would be better spend renationalising the railways. If you could get a decent, fast, clean training anywhere in the UK for a tenner, its a no-brainer.
Plus, more people on public transports means less cars on the road for us and spirited driving. I'd like to know who gets these road building contracts. Almost certainly, China.
