Default Licence counterpart thingy

I've got to send mine off for a speeding fine , and can I find it? Of course not.

Does anyone know what I'm meant to do? Trying to get a new one from DVLA so I can send it back to DVLA seems a bit silly.

Sounds like a call to the DVLA is needed. I agree that it can't be sensible to request a new copy (which AFAIK will cost you

Turns out you can apply for a replacement online, and it costs

You are lucky, Dave. I had seven days to produce it at the local police station - not enough time to obtain a replacement and so starteth six months of chasing my case through the police, CPS and the courts....

Don't suppose you have a note of your driver number anywhere, do you, Craig? If so, it's probably worth producing the photocard part and explaining the position. I'm sure that they can cross-refer with DVLA to confirm that a licence has been issued to you.

Mind you, that's doubtless altogether too sensible for the Police and CPS....

I had something like that years ago when I'd sent my licence off for a change of address, and got a producer before it came back. I was officially charged with failing to produce a licence, then a few weeks later they officially dropped the case once they'd verified the situation with DVLA.

Makes no odds Mark, I had the photocard but it's not a "proper" licence without the counterpart

FFS. How do they think you got the photocard then? They can even see from the picture that it's you it was issued to!

Petty officialdom

So, because you can't put your hands on the paper counterpart within 7 days, they're going to do you for failing to produce...? They can check just about everything else at DVLA thesedays so you'd think it would be no great matter to query your driver number and check that a licence had actually been issued. It really does beggar belief....

So sayeth the solicitor!!!

Don't get me started about petty officialdom and solicitors, really!

I think it's fairly uncommon for traffic to give people producers if they're caught during working hours as they can get insurance, tax, drivers licence details direct from DVLA.
