Default Local speed camera campaign

A local village has volunteer speed camera operators on the job, so a local wag has released a protest? song, see below

Our parish council has a speed camera, its not a bad idea it helps to discourage people from speeding through our village. They have no powers to stop or prosecute any one

My wife did receive a letter for going through another local village who has one to , she was told in no uncertain terms to be more careful in future etc etc

Not points wise, no. If you kept tearing past them at warp speed they may get a 'real' officer to use the Laser one day .... or you could get a S.59 warning re your driving ... but that's about it.

it's a good and interesting point

unfortunately, anathema to the 'speed kills' lobby and the treasury

I'm beginning to wonder what exactly I do get for my taxes

there's a scam on vehicle recovery that needs to be exposed

(try breaking into the cosy relationship between xxx recovery ltd and xxx Police)

when your car is recovered it's recovered to xxx's premises and clocks up a nice little earner in excess of what you pay in the nearest town centre NCP

except your car isn't in a town centre location - it's on a s***hole industrial estate

not happy to pay?

fine, the recovery agent will take possession of your car - backed up by xxx Police

the local Police car park is mahoosive and half empty

you'll be told - £150 storage - no problem - claim off your insurance

NTFP!

I can't say more because of things I'm trying to set up but if I can I will idc

ps there was a prog on the beeb about a week ago (Rip off Britain) which touched on some of the issues

The term 'Rip-off Britain' seems almost to have died out - as things always do.

I think 'state-condoned corruption' is probably more accurate.

it's fanned by bollox like "how can we monetise that?"

results in charges/penalties at every point in the process

ScumAir have it down to a fine art
